No other car company like this

The inside story of the Morgan car & family. Amazing history of a family's dedication to constantly improving their product yet never losing sight of what they produce. They manage to be "state of the art" and "outdated" at the same time. The book gets a little tedious when it is relating the racing successes of the club racing years, but the early years, the Chris Lawrence years and the Aero 8 development was good reading.

This car company has a story to tell and this book pretty much covers it with its chronological timeline starting with the first Morgan car built by H.F.S.. The book includes more on Morgan's racing history than I care to know which is the only reason I did not give it five stars. I especially liked the reference to the "Troubleshooter" in the 1990's.

Great book for any motor enthusiast! I have several books on Morgans but this one has a ton of pictures that really make it stand out from others (also it's the most recent one I've found). It has a year-by-year of the MMC with great info and talks about innovations, racing history, and the future of this great company. Happy reading and happy motoring.

The basic story is that Albania sends a plane with another country's markings to bomb the U.S. and we retaliate. However this is not a pacifist (don't build bombs book). This is not a sci-fi book. It could be a speculative fiction or just speculative.

The story begins after the war is completed and radiation is now covering the world. Australia is the last place to be covered. You read how different people are about to meat their end, some with hope, others with reckless abandon. Still there are those like the US sub commander Dwight Towers is loyal to his country to the end by not allowing U.S. property in the end to fall into the hands of the Aussies.

The book was written in the Cold War Era environment. So many people think that it is about countries and war; others think this story is some anti war story. The reality is that it is a study of people meeting a sure end and how they react. The unwinnable war

There are people on our planet who firmly believe that a nuclear war is winnable. It isn't.

"On the Beach" is a must read for anybody who thinks that way because Neville Shute foresaw the minutiae of the relentless spread of nuclear fall-out which gradually would engulf the planet. The realization by the book's main characters that there is no way out is chilling and has the effect of turning all the values we hold dear on their head.

Shute is a story teller par excellence and he excels in relating his story in incredible detail which shows through in scenes like the one where they sail into a ruined New York harbor trying to track down what they think is an amateur radio operator trying to send out a distress call. The detail makes it compelling. It is unputdownable!That Will Do Nicely

Recent publications include: ‘Deconstructing the Asian Welfare Model: social equality matters’ in Journal of Asian Public Policy 1(3) 2008, The Crisis of Welfare in East Asia (Lexington, 2007, co-ed), Gender and Social Work – Theory and Practice (Chinese University Press, 2006, in Chinese, co-ed).

About the Author
Pablo Rey was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He arrived in Madrid in 1992, when Spain was in the midst of another bad recession. In 1996 he moved to Barcelona and in 2000 he rented his mortgaged apartment and moved into a 4wd van with Anna Callau, his partner in adventures. The goal: to drive around the world through Southern Europe, the Middle East, Africa from north to south, America from south to north, and back to Barcelona via Vladivostok to Finisterre. He has written articles for Overland Journal and Lonely Planet Magazine and has published three books in Spanish about his overland trips. Pablo has won more than 20 awards as a creative advertising writer, is a former illegal immigrant, an antique bottle hunter in ghost towns and one of many Argentinians from Barcelona, or Spaniards from Buenos Aires, with a leg in many continents. Pablo and Anna still live on the road.

An inspiration

I love the way Pablo describes how he feels about places, people and events (like fear for example or how freedom = cow shit). Great read. I wish there was more. I must say I am thrilled to have had the priviledge of meeting them (a couple of times). I will definitely buy his other books soon as they're translated in English.

Be inspired and get out from behind your desk!

I love the spirit and fortitude required to see the world through the windshield of a van. No one has more experience with this view than Pablo & Anna, of Viajeros4x4x4, as they've seen the world from behind the wheel of the "Cockroach," a Mitsubishi L300 4�4 Delica van, for over 13yrs now. I've now crossed paths with Pablo & Anna 4 times in my travels, and each time I've left the encounter even more inspired from their spirit and stories of adventure. Our paths crossed recently at the WA Overland Rally and I was able to finally grab a copy of their new book, "Around the World in 10 Years," in English. Their previous books in Spanish are probably great; I'm just REALLY bad at foreign languages. "Around the World" paints vivid pictures of far away places and dives deep into the human spirit, inspiring you to experience the "human circus" for yourself.

It wasn't easy to read, but some parts were interesting

If you are interested in Arab world this book might interest you. It wasn't an easy read for me as much as I wanted it to be, I enjoyed only some parts of it and found rest very hard to read & understand. Sometimes there seemed to be no concept - a bit from this and a bit of that, no flow. Very unfortunately I have to say this book was just ok at best... Maybe it's being translated from Spanish to English, who knows.

And yes - it seems to talk only about first year or so of the travel, which seem to go in to circles of same old, same old just in different country.
