Get ready to crave some cupcakes. Loved this book!

Sugared is book three in The Misfit Brides of Bliss series by Jamie Farrell. This book was generously provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I am such a huge fan of Jamie Farrell’s books. They are filled with humor, romance, some sexy times, and characters that will find a place in your heart and hold on tight. There is something about this book that went beyond every one of her books thus far. I swooned, I laughed, I got angry, and my heart pounded for these two characters. I could not put the book down.
I met Kimmie Elias in the previous books in the series and already loved this quirky, wonderful woman. But in this book, I fell for her even more. Kimmie is the daughter of the owner of Bliss’s wedding bakery, Heaven’s Bakery. Kimmie, though, has a gift for making cakes (and cupcakes) that will change your life. Her mother, Marilyn, aka Queen General, aka General Mom, owns half of the bakery. She runs it like a military base. Everyone fears her, including Kimmie.
In the previous books in the series we heard of the new silent partner of Heaven’s Bakery. The man that owned the other fifty percent. We finally get to meet him. His name is Josh Kincaid. When Josh was very young, his mother died and Josh was put into the system. When things went bad in his foster homes, he took to the streets. At age eleven he was found by the Kincaids who adopted him and gave him a wonderful home. The Kincaids own the snack cake empire, Sweet Dreams. But after all these years, their company is in trouble. The Kincaids saved Josh’s life and he will do whatever it takes to help get the company back on it’s feet. And that includes wooing some very tasty cupcake recipes out of a very popular baker in Bliss. One whose mother will do anything to get back the other fifty percent of her bakery.
“Her life had turned into one of those messes like when the mixer got turned on too fast with no shield and cake batter splattered all over and nobody had time to clean it up, and by the time they did, it would be crusted on the walls and even harder to scrub off.”
What happens when you put together a very quirky baker and a one of the hottest eligible bachelors of Chicago? Chaos is what you get. Josh and Kimmie enter into a fake relationship, Josh needing the cupcake recipes and Kimmie’s mom wanting her to woo Josh out of the other half of their bakery. But the more time these two spend together, the more they start to see the real person under all the frosting. Where Josh started out just needing the recipes for his family’s company, it became so much more. He wanted to protect Kimmie from her mother. He wanted Kimmie to be able to grow and flourish without the shadow of General Mom. But there are also deep insecurities on both parts. Feeling that they are not good enough, that they are unlovable.
“There was something sexy about a woman in her element, doing what she was born to do. Kimmie was born to bake cakes. To share sweet delicacies with the world. To spread joy and happiness and life with the world.”
I just want to say that this book grabbed my heart and never let go all the way through. Kimmie and her crazy dreams, her crazy clothes, her crazy cats, and a heart as big as all of Illinois. And who wouldn’t love Josh. The man who worried if he finally gave someone his heart, that they would leave him in one way or another. That didn’t feel like he was good enough for her. But he was bound and determined to stay in the fake relationship until he made things better for Kimmie. But does his heart really stand a chance against the wonders of Kimmie?
You don’t want to miss this book! But it will mean so much more if you start at the beginning of the series with Blissed (formerly knows as The Husband Games) and meet the rest of the gang in Bliss, the wedding capital of the country. I think you will fall in love with them just as I have. And you’ll be ready just in time for the release of Sugared. So settle in, grab a cupcake or two, and get ready to meet the Misfit Brides of Bliss.

Finally Kimmie's story!!

Having read the first three books in the series...which you don't NEED to do before reading Sugared, but it'll give you background into Kimmie and her "General Mom"...I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Kimmie as the heroine of her own story.
Kimmie is that girl from middle school...the one who is shy, sits by herself, and says weird things. But she's also the girl who, once you sit and talk with her, will be your best friend for life. She's loyal, sweet, funny, has got quite an imagination and is smarter than Josh or her mother give her credit for.
Josh had it tough growing up, but he's got lucky with his adopted parents and is now the silver spoon, rich playbook charmer. He needs Kimmie and her fabulous cupcake recipes and he's not above using blackmail, money or his charms to get them from her.
I loved their progression from enemies to co-conspirators to eventually friends. Kimmie's dreams and turn of a phrase kept me laughing...the others in the waiting room at the doctors office were look Iooking at me like I was....Kimmie! Secondary characters help make a story richer for me...and this cast had it all...the tough, cranky, General mother, the friends who love Kimmie, the town who loves Kimmie and of course, Kimmie herself.
This was definitely a book worth waiting for! Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!

cute romance!

This book was a great light read. I was really thrilled with the story and the you can not help fall in love with Kimmie and the whole gang. There was times I laughed so hard I was glad I wan't in public. There are a few spots that I got emotional. You will root for Josh even though you sometimes want to hit him. I am so glad we got Kimmie's mom in her place. I like everything she has done for the town but come on the way she treated Kimmie. I'm so glad the book had a happy ending for them. If you are looking for I sweet nice romance then you wont go wrong with this one.
